Conversion Description

The conversion of Life to Date project balances for active projects is an optional tool provided to agencies wishing to establish access to historical financial information at a summary level within Florida PALM. This conversion will provide agencies with access to historical and current information within one database. Agency users will be able to access this information by running various reports and/or queries because the data will be loaded into the Florida PALM project transaction table. This conversion will allow agency users to readily obtain summarized transactional information about projects from inception to current date. This conversion will consume and summarize all the financial data pertaining to projects within the FLAIR Master GL Balance File and insert the data into the Florida PALM Project Costing records. The conversion data can be a very helpful tool for the transition from the current FLAIR operating system/agency business systems to the Florida PALM operation system for projects. Agencies will need to verify project accounting data before providing information for conversion.

PC Business Unit	Project Detail Header	Used to define an organization or organizational subset that is independent with regards to one or more accounting or operational functions.
Project	Project Detail Header	Project is used to capture a planned undertaking, having a finite beginning and a finite ending, can cross fiscal years, for which expenditures/costs and revenues are to be tracked.

GL Business Unit	Project Detail Line	GL Business Unit represents an organization/agency at an appropriation level and is used to define a financial reporting entity for General Ledger reporting.
Account	Project Detail Line	General Ledger Account, specified as balance sheet account (e.g., asset, liability, equity) or operating account (e.g., expenditure, revenue).
Fund	Project Detail Line	Fund is used to segregate and capture specific activities or classify certain objectives in accordance with special regulations, restrictions, or limitations.
Budget Entity	Project Detail Line	Budget Entity ChartField represents organizations and/or functions to which appropriations are made and typically represents a program.
Category	Project Detail Line	Category ChartField represents both appropriation categories and revenue source codes.
